VE Day commemoration and celebration - huge success!

Huge success!  The weather was beautiful, the crowds came, the 13 stalls were well attended, the tea flowed and the WI did a roaring trade in cakes.  Entertainment too – Bognor Sea Cadets, Felpham Sea Scouts and Cubs, the RAFA Choir, Felpham Community College including Headmistress, Ms Pike with a selection of spoken words and jokes from WW2, and Callum Hennessy,  cellist Roger Spinner, poetry from Elizabeth Godfrey, St Mary’s Church Choir, Chichester Lindy Hoppers - closing with the Bognor Regis Concert Band.   Finally, there was the unveiling of the blue plaque from FVCS and Felpham Parish Council that is to be a permanent memorial to those Felpham residents who played their part in the liberation of Europe.  The focus was VE Day but tribute was also paid to those involved in VJ Day in August 1945.   The History Group would like to thank visitors, volunteers, donors and sponsors who made that fabulous afternoon possible.
